These amounts can come from team members, companies, friends, enemies, rich uncles, or change found in the couch – just as long as you reach the minimum amount. All teams must have their minimum donation amounts submitted by race day. We’ve got plenty of reasons to raise even more than the minimum: prizes! The more you pledge the better chance of winning higher-value prizes and prize packages. Go to our prizes page for a sneak peak, and sign up for our newsletter, or follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more exclusive previews of prizes.
Every pledge dollar you raise goes directly to Island Prostate Centre. Here are some tips to get things rolling:
Donors can donate online, but only if they know how. Make sure you share your team name, and share your unique pledging web address.
Start now. Create a list of potential donors (friends, businesses and organizations), and their contact details. Set a personal goal for your donations.
The more you share your donation request, the better. Facebook, Twitter, blogs and email will help you get the word out – ditto for personal websites, posters and signs.
If your goal is $100, you could try hard to get two donations of $50. Or, you could get fifty donations of $2. Or, 100 donations of $1. No donation is too small, as long as you meet your goals.
Sometimes the best ways to raise donation money are the weirdest. You could promise to shave your head if you hit your donation goal, or sell homemade cooking, or even offer to volunteer to local people or businesses in exchange for donations.
Why not kill two birds with one stone? If you want to win UrbaCity, training is a must. You could ask for donations as inspiration to meet your training milestones: maybe $20 to complete a 5K run, or $1 for every push-up you can do?
Keep track of who gave what, and be sure to always thank your donors.
